There are a few main causes of vaginal yeast infections which are talked about below. 75% of women get a vaginal yeast infection at some time in their life, and there is always a cause. Knowing the cause of your infection can prevent it becoming recurrent, and then becoming an annoying problem for weeks or even months.

What is a yeast infection

A yeast infection is a fungal infection caused by the mutation of the Candida Albicans yeast that lives in all of us. It’s only when one of your natural defenses is compromised that the harmless yeast mutates into an aggressive fungus, and then starts causing your symptoms.

Antibiotics use

Antibiotics are the biggest cause of yeast infections. Your body has friendly bacteria living in and on it that keeps all other bacteria and fungus under control. When you take antibiotics for an infection they kill all of the bacteria living in your body, and this includes your friendly bacteria. When the friendly bacteria has been killed the Candida Albicans yeast mutates because there is nothing left to stop it from getting out of control.

Diabetes

If you suffer from diabetes you’re more prone to yeast infections because of the rises in your blood sugar levels. If you are suffering from diabetes and you get frequent yeast infections you can talk to your doctor about a change in your medication if the one you’re using isn’t regulating your sugar levels enough.

Weakened immune system

A weakened immune system can allow the Candida to mutate. Your immune system is one of your body’s natural defenses against all types of infections. Stress, poor diet and prescription medication all contribute to a weakened immune system.

Feminine hygiene

Feminine hygiene products such a douches are causes of vaginal yeast infections. These products have fragrances and chemicals in them that upset your vaginas natural bacterial and PH balance. This always puts the environment inside your vagina in the favor of the Candida yeast. Vaginas are self cleaning, and they don’t need anything forced into them to clean them out. If you are cleaning your vagina because you have an odor coming from it then you already have an infection, and you need to see your doctor.

Birth control pill

The birth control pill can cause Candida overgrowth in the vagina because the pill effects hormone levels. This effect on hormone levels has an effect on the body’s sugar levels and immune system so the Candida can mutate with these changes in the body going on. Another form of contraception is recommended if you get frequent yeast infections from the birth control pill.

Knowing the cause of your vaginal yeast infection

Once you know the cause of your vaginal yeast infection you can easily cure yourself. Some women don’t know the cause of their infection, and go on treating recurrent yeast infections for a long time. Please don’t be one of those women. Find the cause and you’ll be yeast free in no time.

“Does Chlamydia clear with a yeast infection treatment?” Many women ask this question because a yeast infection treatment will appear to be curing Chlamydia while you’re using it. This is very dangerous, and I will explain why.

What is Chlamydia

Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted disease, and is the most common STD in America. This STD infects 2.8 million Americans every year, and is caused by the bacteria Chlamydia Trachomatis.

Chlamydia symptoms

One of the major problems with suffering from Chlamydia is, it can have no symptoms, and is known as the “silent disease.” Chlamydia with no symptoms affects 75% of women and 50% of men who have contracted this bacterial infection. Symptoms will usually appear 2 to 3 weeks after you have been infected.

These symptoms ( when they appear ) are…

Abdominal pain

Vaginal discharge

Burning sensation when urinating

In men they will include…

Burning and itching around the opening of the penis

Burning sensation when urinating

Penis discharge

If you’re familiar with the symptoms of a yeast infection the you will notice that the symptoms of both infections have similar qualities.

If Chlamydia isn’t treated correctly

If you’re suffering from Chlamydia and isn’t treated correctly it can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease ( PID ). This can then lead to permanent damage to your reproductive organs and leave you infertile.

See your doctor

Many women misdiagnose themselves, and this is the reason why you must see your doctor at the first sign of any vaginal infection. The examination is intimate and can be embarrassing, but this short examination is a lot better than being left infertile.

Treating Chlamydia with a yeast infection treatment

If you do wrongly diagnose yourself as suffering from a yeast infection the treatment you can ease the symptoms of Chlamydia. This can make you think that you do have a yeast infection, and this is one way thousands of women diagnose themselves every month.

Just doing this for one course of treatment, and then deciding to go to see your doctor can make you too late to repair irreversible damage.

A yeast infection treatment will only cure a yeast infection, and will only mask the symptoms of any other infection you have.

Please don’t be someone who wrongly diagnoses themselves, and has to live with the results.
