Can I Have Sex While Using Monistat

It is advised that you refrain from having sex while you’re using Monistat. If you’re using Monistat then you have a yeast infection also so it’s not just the Monistat that is preventing you from having enjoyable, safe sex.

Your vaginal lining

During a yeast infection the lining of your vagina is being eaten by the mutated Candida fungus. This means that any friction from sexual intercourse is going to cause more damage to the cells in your vagina. Also the Monistat is going to be as effective if it isn’t allowed to do it’s job properly.

If your yeast infection isn’t cured with your first treatment because you decided to have sex then you’ll need a second course of Monistat. With every course you need you have a greater chance of the yeast in your vagina becoming resistant to the treatment and then you’ll need to start taking oral anti fungals to cure an infection that should have been cured the first time of trying.

Contraception

If you’re using any contraception such as condoms or diaphragms these can be damaged by the cream. This means you have a chance of getting pregnant as your method of contraception could fail because of the Monistat.

Passing on the infection

Having sex while you have a yeast infection can pass the infection to your partner. While yeast infections aren’t classed as sexually transmitted diseases they can still be passed from person to person. If you pass on a resistant strain of Candida to your partner then they’ll be in trouble also.

It’s not really that long

Your vaginal yeast infection should be fully cured within 10 days if you follow your doctors advice and use the treatment as recommended. So that means you’ll be 10 days without sex while your vagina becomes fully healed. I’m sure you’ll make up for lost time once you’re healed and you’ll enjoy yourself with your partner a lot more.

Will Your Yeast Infection Go When You Have Your Period

Will your yeast infection go away when you have your period? The simple answer to this is no, and waiting to see if it will happen will only make things worse for you.

What is a yeast infection

A yeast infection is caused by fungus feeding on the inside of your vagina. A period is in no way anti fungal so it will not cure an infection. Your symptoms may lessen during your period because of the chemical change on the inside of your vagina during this time.

Your hormones

Leading up to your period, and during your period your hormones are all over the place, and this can actually cause a yeast infection. Some women get yeast infections at the time they get their period because of their hormones fluctuating.

You need to cure your infection quickly

If you’re suffering from a yeast infection you should treat it as soon as possible. You have a fungus eating the skin cells on the inside of your vagina and the more the fungus feeds the deeper it will get into your skin.

If you’ve tried already

If you’ve attempted to cure your infection already without success you must make sure you have a yeast infection and not another vaginal infection. many women self diagnose themselves and get the diagnosis wrong. This means that the treatment they used would never work, and the infection they do have just gets worse.

An alternative treatment you can try is a natural one that cures your infection from the root cause. It strengthens all of your body’s natural defenses so you won’t suffer from an infection again.
