Why has your yeast infection come back? There are a few reasons why a yeast infection becomes chronic, and until the reason for your recurrent yeast infection has been detected you will never cure yourself. 5% of women suffer from recurrent Candida infections because the root cause isn’t thought of while they continually apply anti fungal creams, and take oral anti fungal drugs. In the end these drugs and medications become part of the problem.
Resistant yeast
The first reason why your yeast infection could be coming back is the Candida overgrowth in your vagina is now resistant to the medication you’re using. When the Candida Albicans yeast has infected your vagina it has mutated into an aggressive fungus, and when you keep exposing this fungus to the same anti fungal treatment it will mutate into a stronger form of fungus. This is the Candida’s natural defense mechanism, and in the end you create a super yeast that doesn’t respond at all to anti fungal creams or oral drugs ( depending on what you’re taking ).
Underlying illness
If your yeast infection keeps coming back then you could be suffering from an underlying health condition. The main heath problems that cause yeast infections are diabetes and the HIV/AIDS virus. You could also be suffering from another condition that is lowering your immunity which allows the Candida to mutate while your body is weak. If you’re suffering from chronic yeast infections it’s important to see your doctor so he/she can give you a full examination.
Weakened immune system
If your immune system is weak for any reason then you’re open to infections. You immune system is one of your bodies natural defenses against infections so the Candida yeast will get a chance to mutate if your immunity is low. Like the point above, your immunity could be weak because of a health condition so a doctors visit is a good idea if you suspect your immunity is low.
Poor diet
A poor diet that lacks nutrition and is high in sugar and refined carbohydrates can cause a yeast infection to come back. These foods, as well as many others, are the foods that the yeast in your body will feed on. These foods also raise your blood sugar levels which increase Candida activity in your body. A poor diet can also contribute to a weakened immune system.
